With student loan forms out of the way May comes around, trailing in its wake a letter from the university regarding accommadation for September. I can apply online starting from tomorrow (the 3rd of May) and I intend to get my application in asap to ensure I get what I want. So now I have 24hrs to decide what it is I want.
Should I go for mature student accommadation for that quiet study atmosphere conductive to getting the degree I want at the end of my course or should I go for on-campus housing (despite the construction noise) to facilitate getting to lectures on time? Then there’s the option of the student village, where I lived for a year last time. That was good. Plenty of opportunity to meet new people and if you want peace and quiet it is usually as simple as shutting a door. I was, after all, the only member of our flat of seven not to get a degree last time so the study atmosphere is obviously available there, pleasing mixed in with the social aspects. Then I must decide if I want to pay a premium for a larger room? I should save the money but i do own a lot of stuff after so many years of working and living in my own place and my room in which I am now sat is, frankly palacial. I don’t want to be crowded for the sake of an extra £5 a week. Then again, thats £5 a week extra spending money. Could make a difference on a student budget.
Then there’s the problem of fitting in with a group of 18yr olds. Will I be too old and find them irksome? It’s a mine-field. Watch this space for the exciting conclusion!
Those larger rooms kick ass tho. my flat mate bought a hammok cause he couldnt fill the space any other way. You may be 24 phyically but yada yada yada.. you know the rest..
Think about it campus rooms suck, private will be annoying, village is the only barry option!
